PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - For the second time this season, Cassie Hocker (Fort Madison, Iowa/Fort Madison) has broken the 60-meter dash record. Hocker broke the record Saturday at the Wisconsin-Platteville Invite.
Hocker broke the record in 7.69, as she also broke the Williams Fieldhouse facility record. Her time is the best in the nation. Amanda Brummet (Port Byron, Ill./Riverdale) was fifth in the 200-meter dash, while she won the 400-meter dash in 59.66. Her 400-meter time is the 59th best in the nation. Rachel Kelly (Lone Tree, Colo./Rock Canyon) was 10th in 1:04.52. Josephine Bautch (Reedsburg, Wisconsin/Reedsburg) finished eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:25.57. McKayla Morris (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) was eighth in the 3,000-meter run in 11:54.21. Mareena Franke (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) won the 5,000-meter run in 19:23.07, while Holly Wisnousky (Fairfax, Iowa/Prairie) was 10th in 21:15.11.
Christina Brown (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) was ninth in the pole vault at 9' 2 1/4" (2.80m). Tieranny Keahna was sixth in the shot put at 38' 5" (11.71m), while Madison Arechiga (Houston, Texas/Jersey Village) was ninth with a throw of 36' 11" (11.25m). Keahna was fourth in the weight throw at 49' 1" (14.96m), the 69th best throw in the nation.
Erik Franklin (Greeley, Colo./West) won the 200-meter dash in 22.51, the third best time in the IIAC and 35th in the nation. Clevon Catchings (Chicago, Ill./Chicago Bulls Prep) was seventh in 23.53. Nathan Suell (Fredericksburg, Iowa/Turkey Valley) was seventh in the 400-meter dash in 50.45, the 72nd best time in the nation. Beau Freeborn (New Sharon, Iowa/North Mahaska) finished sixth in the 800-meter run in 1:58.84. Coe's 4x400-meter relay team of Suell, Franklin, Ryan Izer (Lawler, Iowa/Turkey Valley) and Freeborn finished second in 3:25.59, the fifth best time in the IIAC and the 54th best in the nation.
CJ Nelson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) was eighth in the triple jump at 37' 6" (11.43m). Jacob Hayes (Bettendorf, Iowa/Bettendorf) was seventh in the weight throw at 54' (16.46m), the 42nd best throw in the nation and fourth in the IIAC. Robbie Peters (Mount Vernon, Iowa/Mount Vernon) was just behind Hayes in fifth with a throw of 53' 11" (16.43m), the 43rd best throw in the country and fifth in the league.
The Kohawks return to action on Saturday, as they compete in the Wartburg Invite. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Waverly.
