CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - For the second time this season, junior Sam Fitzgerald (Springville, Iowa/Springville) has been named the Iowa Conference Women's Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week.
Fitzgerald won a pair of Liberal Arts Championships last weekend, while finishing in the top five in seven events. For the third-straight year, Fitzgerald won the 100-yard breaststroke title in 1:06.48 after going 1:06.25 in the prelims. Fitzgerald was also a member of Coe's winning 200-yard medley time that won in 1:48.18, setting a school record with the 28th best time in the nation. Fitzgerald had a pair of runner-up finishes, as Coe's 200-yard freestyle relay set the school record in 1:39.75. She was also second in the 200-yard breaststroke, having a finals time of 2:26.41, while her prelim time of 2:25.35 was the 47th best in the nation.
Coe's 400-yard medley relay was third in 4:01.31, having the second best time in school history and 38th in the nation. Fitzgerald was also a member of Coe's fourth-place 400-yard freestyle relay that had the third best time in school history at 3:42.94. Fitzgerald was fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a finals time of 25.17 after going 25.16 in the prelims.
