DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Coe College men's track and field team sent just two entries to the Spartan Invite on Friday, but left with a pair of event titles and a new school record.
Chris Hawkins (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius) won the long jump at 23' 11 1/2" (7.30m). His jump broke his own school record of 23' 6 3/4" (7.18m) from 2015. The distance is the fifth best in the nation and tops in the Iowa Conference. Erik Franklin (Greeley, Colo./West) tied his season best in the 200-meter dash, winning in 22.51. His time is ranked 43rd in the nation and third in the Iowa Conference.
The Kohawks return to action on Saturday, as Coe travels to the Wartburg Invite. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in Waverly. A link to live video is available at CoeAthletics.com.
