LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Sophomore Alyssa Olson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) has been named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week.
Olson was 3-0 on the week in the circle, earning three wins and a save in her four appearances. She opened the week with a victory against Aurora, as she gave up an earned run on seven hits in a complete game. She struck out three in the win. She followed with a relief appearance against second-ranked St. John Fisher, as she earned the win throwing the final two innings without allowing a hit.
In Coe's win over 11th-ranked WPI, Olson tossed another complete game. She gave up an unearned run on six hits, while striking out six. She earned a save in her final appearance of the week against Thiel. In 1.1 innings of work, she struck out one without allowing a hit for the save.
Olson had a .40 ERA on the week, while giving up 13 hits and two runs (one earned) in 17.1 innings pitched. She struck out 12 and didn't allow a walk on the week. Olson was also named the Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third-straight week.
The 12th-ranked Kohawks (13-1) are off this week, but return to action March 22nd for a single game against Cornell. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Mount Vernon. A link to live video and stats is available at CoeAthletics.com.
