MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Junior Aleena Hobbs (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) has been named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region Third Team. Hobbs is the eighth selection to the team in school history.
Hobbs earns the honor for the second-straight year, as she was a second-team selection last season in addition to being the D3hoops.com West Region Rookie of the Year in her freshman campaign. She joins Assistant Coach Kayla Waskow and Amber Karkosh as the only players in school history to be named to the team twice.
One of four players from the Iowa Conference to be named to the all-region teams, Hobbs also earned All-Iowa Conference First Team honors for the third-straight year. Hobbs set school records in free throws made (144) and free throws attempted (168) this season. She ranked third in school history with 16.2 points per game and fourth with 421 points, becoming the first player in school history to score over 400 points in back-to-back seasons. Hobbs ranked eighth in the West Region with nine double-doubles, while ranking 13th with 421 points. She was one of two players in the region to make over 100 free throws, while shooting over 85 percent at the charity stripe.
Hobbs enters her senior season with the highest scoring average in school history at 15.8 points per game and owns the career free throws made record at 387. She ranks third in points (1,267) and rebounds (609) in school history.
