ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Coe College women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Wisconsin-La Crosse and Augustana Saturday. Both teams are ranked in the top 20 in the ITA Central Region rankings.
The Kohawks dropped a 7-2 decision to the Eagles in the first match of the day. At number one doubles, Haley Resnick (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and Lauren French (Raleigh, N.C./North Raleigh Christian) beat Bridget Bellisimo and Sadie Spahn 8-2. Coe's other win came from French at number two singles, as she beat Spahn 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-1). The victory was the seventh-straight for French.
In the match with Augustana, Resnick and French earned an 8-2 win over Dana Goggin and Caitlyn Schaffer at number one doubles. The win improved the Kohawk pair to 17-5 overall on the year. French picked up a singles win, as she beat Goggin 6-1, 6-1 at number two. It was the eighth-straight win over French, as she improved to 8-2 in her last 10 matches.
The Kohawks (13-8) return to action on Sunday, as they host Grinnell (11-5). The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at the Clark Racquet Center.
