CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team won five of the six singles matches Sunday, as the Kohawks beat Grinnell College 6-3 at the Clark Racquet Center.
Coe's lone doubles win came from Haley Resnick (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and Kaitlin Fosler (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) at number two, as they beat Anushka Joshi and Marisa Leib-Neri 8-3. With the win, Resnick improved to 25-5 in doubles play this season. At number one singles, Resnick beat Judith Fan 6-3, 6-2, as she moved into eighth in school history with her 123rd career victory. At number two singles, Lauren French (Raleigh, N.C./North Raleigh Christian) beat Amelia Cogan 6-4, 6-4, as she improved to 24-4 in singles this season. The victory was the ninth-straight singles win for French.
Sarah Lasecki (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy) beat Joshi 6-3, 6-3 at number three singles, while Lakyn Boltz (Keokuk, Iowa/Keokuk) beat Leib-Neri 6-1, 6-4 at number five singles. The last singles win came at number six, as Ella White (Roseville, Minn./St. Anthony Village) downed Shanaz Daneshdoost 6-4, 7-6.
The Kohawks (14-8) return to action on April 12, as they face NCAA Division II Quincy University (7-9). The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the Clark Racquet Center.
