PEOSTA, Iowa - The Coe College men's golf team cut six strokes off its score from the first round to the second round, as the Kohawks finished 12th at the Duhawk Spring Invite.
Hunter Livermore (Atkins, Iowa/Benton Community) led the way for the Kohawks, as he tied for 37th with a 159 over the two rounds. Livermore shot a 77 on Monday, cutting five strokes off his opening round score. His 77 was the third best score of the year for the Kohawks. Yudai Hirano (Japan) tied for 41st, as his 81 on Monday gave him a 160 for the two rounds.
Jake Van Oort (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) tied for 50th, as he shot a 164 for the event. Van Oort cut a pair of strokes off his first round score and shot an 81 on Monday. Jason Gingrich (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar) cut a stroke off his first round score to shoot an 83 on Monday. Gingrich tied for 58th with a 167 for the two days. Anthony Worden (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) trimmed five strokes off his first round score, as he tied for 64th with a 171 with an 83 on Monday. Wade Hill (Monroe, Iowa/Prairie City-Monroe) rounded out the scoring for the Kohawks, as he shot an 89 on Monday to finish tied for 68th with a 173.
Coe finished 12th as a team with a 650, just three strokes behind Clarke for 11th. The Kohawks shot a 322 on Monday, their third best round of the season. Wisconsin-Stout won the team title with a 592, holding a six-stroke lead over Luther. Luther's Joe Fewer won the individual title with a 144.
The Kohawks return to action this weekend, as they participate in the Wartburg Invite on Friday and Saturday in Waverly.
