NORWALK, Iowa - The Coe College men's golf team cut two strokes off its first round score on Tuesday in the second round, as the Kohawks finished eighth at the Simpson Invite.
Yudai Hirano (Japan) cut three strokes off his first round score, as his 76 on Monday put him in a tie for 17th overall with a 155 for the two days. His 76 on Monday is the fifth-lowest score by a Kohawk this season. Jake Van Oort (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) shot an 80 on Monday, as he tied for 32nd overall with a 159.
Jason Gingrich (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar) and Anthony Worden (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) each shot an 81 for the second-straight day, as they finished in a tie for 36th with a 162. Wade Hill (Monroe, Iowa/Prairie City-Monroe) shot an 86 on Monday, as he finished in a tie for 44th with a 166. Hunter Livermore (Atkins, Iowa/Benton Community) rounded out the scoring for the Kohawks, as his 86 on Monday placed him 47th with a 169 for the two days.
Coe shot a 318 on Monday, the third best round of the year for the Kohawks. The Kohawks finished the invite with a 638, as they placed eighth. Grand View, Iowa Lakes and Luther all tied for first with a 607. Central's Kobe Rhodes won individual honors after a playoff with a 146.
The Kohawks return to action on Friday, as they host Wartburg in a dual at Elmcrest Country Club in Cedar Rapids. Action will start at 9 a.m.
