CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Junior Chris Hawkins (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius) has been named the Iowa Conference Outdoor Track & Field - Field Performer of the Week. He was also named the IIAC Male Athlete of the Week.
Hawkins broke a 33-year old school record Saturday in the long jump, as he won the Cornell Invite at 23' 10 3/4" (7.28m). His distance ranks sixth in the nation and the best in the Iowa Conference. Hawkins also won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.24, the second best time in the IIAC and 36th in the nation. He was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that took first place in 42.54. The Kohawk time is the third best in the league and 44th in the nation.
