IOWA CITY, Iowa - Hunter Livermore (Atkins, Iowa/Benton Community) sits in the top 10 after the first round of the Iowa Conference Men's Golf Championships, as the Kohawks are seventh as a team.
Livermore shot an 81 in the opening round, as he is tied for eighth. Anthony Worden (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) joined Livermore in the top half of the field, as he is tied for 21st with an 84 in the opening round.
Yudai Hirano (Japan) and Jason Gingrich (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar) are both tied for 28th after shooting an 86 in the opening round. Jake Van Oort (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) rounded out the scoring for the Kohawks, as he is in 39th with a first round 92.
The Kohawks are seventh after the first round with a 337, but sit just a stroke behind Simpson for sixth and two strokes behind Wartburg for fifth. Central and Loras are tied for third with a 330. Luther holds the team lead with a 309 in the first round. Luther's Joe Fewer and Ben Grotnes are tied for the individual lead with a 76 in the first round.
Saturday's second round of the Iowa Conference Championships has been postponed. The second weekend is scheduled for next Friday and Saturday in Indianola. A decision will be made early next week to determine how the final 54-holes will be played.
