CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Senior Erin Lang (Watertown, Wis./Watertown) has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large First Team.
Lang has the rare distinction of being selected to multiple CoSIDA Academic All-District teams, as she was also a Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team selection in 2015 as a member of the softball team. Lang was one of 19 student-athletes selected to the at-large team this year, joining fellow Kohawk Haley Resnick from the women's tennis team. Coe was one of three schools with multiple selections, while Coe had two of the three Iowa Conference honorees on the list. Lang was one of just three golfers selected to the team.
Twice this season Lang broke the school record for an 18-hole round. She shot a 76 in the second round of the Iowa Conference Championships to break the previous school record of 77 shot in 2007. She followed that with a 76 in the final round of the IIAC Championships as well. Lang had the fifth-best 36-hole score in school history at 166, while her 253 was the third best 54-hole score in school history. She shot a 329 for the 72-hole championship, breaking the previous school record by eight strokes. Lang finished seventh at the IIAC Championships to earn All-Iowa Conference honors. Lang averaged 88.27 strokes for her career in 48 rounds. She had eight top-10 finishes in the 24 events that she played.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA and have the proper athletic accomplishments to be placed on the ballot. The 2016-17 CoSIDA Academic All-District® At-Large Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, have been released to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. With her selection to the first team, Lang is eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-American team, which will be released on June 6.
