GRINNELL, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to Grinnell College on Friday afternoon in the season opener for the Kohawks.
Coe held a 2-1 lead after doubles play, but picked up only one win in singles play in the match. At number one doubles, Haley Resnick (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and Lauren French (Raleigh, N.C./North Raleigh Christian) beat Amelia Cogan and Abby Nielsen 8-2. The other doubles win came at number three, as Eliza Sunderman (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) and Lakyn Boltz (Keokuk, Iowa/Keokuk) beat Lily Hamilton and Sydney Banach 8-6. At number two singles, French beat Cogan 6-1, 6-4 for the only other Kohawk victory.
The Kohawks return to action on Sunday, as they face Lake Forest in the home opener. The match is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Clark Racquet Center.
