GRINNELL, Iowa - The Coe College Cross Country teams competed in the Les Duke Invitational Saturday afternoon at Grinnell College.
Mareena Franke (Neenah, Wis./Neenah) led the pack for the Coe women, finishing 23rd with a time of 24:06 and earning the 21st fastest time in school history. Franke's time also ranks as the fifth fastest time ran by a junior.
Following Franke was Katalina Stai (Winona, Minn./Winona) with a time of 25:02, putting her in 42nd place. McKayla Morris (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere) was 50th in 25:37, while Holly Wisnousky (Fairfax, Iowa/Prairie) was 55th at 25:46. The final scorer for the women was Meghan Brune (Swisher, Iowa/Cedar Rapids Prairie) at 74th with a time of 26:32.
For the men, it was Nathan Haerr (Fairfield, Iowa/Fairfield) leading the Kohawks, finishing 19th overall with a time of 26:30. With that time, Haerr now owns the 24th fasted time in school history, as well as the ninth fasted time ran by a senior.
McCoy Meshach (Pacific, Mo./Pacific) was the next Kohawk to cross the line, finishing 43rd with a time of 27:46. Ben Nelson (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha West) was 61st with a time of 28:24, while Caleb Blevins (Tucson, Ariz./Cienega) finished 89th with a time of 29:13. The final scorer was Dray Schreiber (Buffalo City, Wis./Cochrane Fountain City) finishing with a time of 31:03.
Both men and women return to action Sept. 22, as they travel to the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational in Rock Island, Ill. The races are scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m.
