CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe College women's tennis team earned a pair of wins on Saturday, as the Kohawks beat Dubuque and Loras at the Clark Racquet Center.
The Kohawks opened the day with a 6-3 win over Dubuque. At number one doubles, Haley Resnick (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and Lauren French (Raleigh, N.C./North Raleigh Christian) beat Arantxa Martinez and Madeline Parker 8-1. Coe's other doubles win came at number three, as Lakyn Boltz (Keokuk, Iowa/Keokuk) and Madison Wilson (Marion, Iowa/Marion) beat Naomi Amani and Hailey Wang 8-1.
In singles play, French beat A. Palacios-Quinonez 6-0, 6-0 at number two singles, while Eliza Sundermann (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) beat Parker 6-1, 6-2 at number three singles. Stephanie Bush (Davenport, Iowa/Assumption) was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Amani, while Ella White (Roseville, Minn./St. Anthony Village) wrapped up the win with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Wang at number six singles.
Coe posted its first shutout of the year against Loras. Resnick and Boltz beat Audrey Hinz and Ayla Graziano 8-1 at number one doubles. At number two doubles, French and Sundermann beat Emma Cooke and Bri Eighme 8-1, while White and Wilson beat McKenna Craff and Francesca Roche 8-3 at number three doubles.
At number one singles, French beat Hinz 6-0, 6-2, while Resnick beat Cooke 6-1, 6-3 at number three singles. Sundermann was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Craff at number three singles, while Boltz beat Roche 7-5, 6-0 at number four singles. Bush downed Maddie Smith 6-1, 6-3 at number five singles, while White closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Graziano at number six singles.
The Kohawks (6-3, 5-1 IIAC) return to action next Saturday as they face Nebraska Wesleyan and Buena Vista. The two matches will be held in Omaha, Neb. Coe will face Nebraska Wesleyan at 9 a.m. and Buena Vista at 12 p.m.
