The Kohawk pair, one of eight doubles teams to earn a number nine seed, beat eighth-seeded Zach Ekstein and Yassine Derbni of Gustavus 8-4 in the semifinals. In the championship match, Anderson and Ackert were faced with top-seeded Mohanad Alhouni and Patrick Whaling of Gustavus. Alhouni and Whaling won the match 6-4, 6-4 to advance to the ITA Nationals.
Both Ackert and Anderson advanced to the quarterfinals in singles as well. Ackert, seeded 15th, dropped a 6-2, 7-5 decision to 11th-seeded Chase Johnson of Gustavus in the quarterfinals. Anderson had an epic match in the quarterfinals. Seeded second, Anderson was faced with seventh-seeded Whaling. Anderson dropped the first set 7-5, but won the second 6-4 to force a third set. In the third set, Anderson trailed 5-2 before he mounted a comeback to even the match at 5-5. Whaling took a 6-5 lead, but Anderson battled back to win the match with a 7-6 win in the third set. In the semifinals, Ekstein, seeded fourth, beat Anderson 6-4, 6-2.
The ITA Regionals wraps up the fall season for the Kohawks. Coe will open the spring season Feb. 3 against Wisconsin-La Crosse and Monmouth at the Clark Racquet Center.
