INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Coe College Volleyball team battled the Simpson Storm through five sets Tuesday night, earning another Iowa Conference win.
After Coe took the first set 25-14, the Storm fought back to win the second set 30-28. Simpson dominated the third set 25-15, recording a hitting percentage of .389 compared to Coe's .114. Despite being down 2-1, the Kohawks pursued, winning the fourth set 25-19 and the fifth set 15-11.
Lindsey Koch (Hudson, Iowa/Hudson) earned her 11th double-double of the season with an impressive 18 kills and 15 digs. Jaimee Rindy (Gypsum, Colo./Eagle Valley) also finished with 18 kills for the Kohawks and had a team-high hitting percentage of .359, while freshman Whitney Watson (Poplar Grove, Ill./North Boone) ended with eight.
Having a career-night was Aryn Meisinger (Gothenburg, Neb./Gothenburg) and Madi Miller (Coralville, Iowa/West). Meisinger totaled 50 assists, breaking her previous record of 45. Miller finished with 34 digs, beating her previous career-high by 10 digs. Freshmen Sarah Lehman (Iowa City, Iowa/Regina) set a career-high for herself with 19 digs against the Storm, while Ali Arns (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) and Meisinger recorded seven.
Rindy led Coe in blocks with six block assists while newcomer Morgan Kluesner (Asbury, Iowa/Hempstead) recorded three block assists.
The Kohawks return to action Friday as they travel to Pella, Iowa to take on the Dutch in another Iowa Conference meeting. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. A link to live video and stats can be found at CoeAthletics.com.
