OMAHA, Neb. - In their final dual meets of the fall season, the Coe College women's tennis team won a pair of matches against Nebraska Wesleyan and Buena Vista at the Koch Tennis Center.
The Kohawks opened the day with an 8-1 win over Nebraska Wesleyan. Coe held a 2-1 lead after doubles play, picking up wins at the top two spots. Haley Resnick (Bettendorf, Iowa/Assumption) and Lauren French (Raleigh, N.C./North Raleigh Christian) beat Elia Healy and Bridget McKeegan 8-2, while Eliza Sundermann (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) and Stephanie Bush (Davenport, Iowa/Assumption) beat Victoria Gorman and Makinzie Vandewege 8-5 at number two.
Coe swept the six singles matches, starting with an 8-4 win from Resnick over Healy at number one singles. French downed McKeegan 8-4 at number two singles, while Sundermann beat Madi Hinshaw 8-4 at number three singles. At number four singles, Lakyn Boltz (Keokuk, Iowa/Keokuk) downed Gorman 8-3, while Bush beat Jordyn Fossel 8-3 at number five singles. Ella White (Roseville, Minn./St. Anthony Village) closed the match with an 8-3 win over Vandewege at number six singles.
In the 6-3 win over Buena Vista, the Kohawks led 2-1 after doubles play. Resnick and Boltz downed Lani Brown and Rachel West 8-3 at number one doubles, while Sundermann and Bush beat Madison Gierstorf and Katrina Chaiyawong 8-0.
The Kohawks won at the top four singles spots for the victory. French beat Brown 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles, while Sundermann downed West 6-2, 6-2 at number two singles. Boltz beat Gierstorf 6-0, 6-1 at number three singles, while White beat Emma Hoesing 6-0, 6-1 at number four singles.
Coe returns to action on Friday, as they travel to Waterloo for the Iowa Conference Singles and Doubles Championships. Action begins at 9 a.m.
