CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Norse defeated the Coe College Volleyball team 3-0 in Kohawk Arena Wednesday night, as the Kohawks moved to .500 in Iowa Conference play.
The Norse came out hot the first set, recording a team hitting percentage of .312 compared to Coe's .067, as Luther won 25-17. Unable to ease Luther's momentum, the Norse took the second set 25-19. In the third set, each team finished with 10 kills but it was the Norse again who came out on top, winning 25-23.
Leading the Kohawks with 13 kills, Lindsey Koch (Hudson, Iowa/Hudson) became the 10th Kohawk in program history to surpass 900 career kills. Koch also led Coe in digs with 12, while also recording the lone solo block of the match. Aryn Meisinger (Gothenburg, Neb./Gothenburg) totaled 27 assists as well as two block assists on the Norse.
Madie Heinen (West Des Moines, Iowa/Valley) recorded five kills while Jaimee Rindy (Gypsum, Colo./Eagle Valley) finished with four. Ali Arns (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) helped the Kohawk defense with eight digs, while Madi Miller (Coralville, Iowa/West) finished with seven and Sarah Lehman (Iowa City, Iowa/Regina) with six.
With a bye this weekend, the Kohawks return to action Tuesday as they host Buena Vista. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in Kohawk Arena. A link to live video and stats can be found at CoeAthletics.com.
