CLINTON, Iowa - Ashford used a 20-6 run to open the first five minutes of the second half as they held on for a 90-80 win over Coe.  With the loss, the Kohawks dropped to 2-5 on the season.
The Kohawks had the hot hand early in the game, as they shot 66.7 percent from the field in the first half, while they also connected on 7-of-9 3-point attempts.  Trailing by two with 17:06 to play in the opening half, the Kohawks went on an 11-2 run to take a lead they would hold onto until the big run by the Saints.

Both teams used big runs to end the half, as Coe extended its lead to nine points, only to have Ashford answer with a 10-3 run with just over five minutes  to play in the first half.  Ashford scored the final six points of the first half, as Coe hit its final field goal of the opening half on a jumper by junior Joe Parys (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) with 3:14 left in the half.

Following the 20-6 run by the Saints, the Kohawks used a 12-4 run of their own to cut into the Ashford lead.  The Kohawk run put the Saints ahead 70-68 with 6:29 to play, but another run by the Saints nearly sealed the Kohawks fate.  While the 11-5 run by Ashford extended its lead, the Saints scored nine of the last 12 points in the game for the win.

Junior Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) had a team-high 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting, while junior Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) added 17 points, as he hit three 3-point baskets.

The Kohawks will return to action this weekend when they travel to the Webster Invitational in St. Louis, Mo.
