CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Powered by a 50-point performance in the first half, the Coe women's basketball team won its final home game of 2009 79-35 over Augustana Saturday at Eby Fieldhouse.  The Kohawks' season high in scoring came without a single starter playing more than 16 minutes.
The Kohawks held a 15-9 lead with 14:50 to play in the first half when they broke the game open for good.  A 17-0 run in just 5:11 put the Kohawks up by 23 and never looked back.  After the run, the Kohawks never led by less than 20 points.

Lani Kasten scored on a layup and free throw for the Vikings with 8:44 to go in the first half, but the Kohawks used another big run to end the half.  The Kohawks closed the half on an 18-4 run, with 16 points coming in the paint to take a 50-16 lead at the break.

Coe led by 40 or more points for the final eight minutes of the game, as the Vikings tallied just one field goal and five points total in the closing stretch of the game.

Junior Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) led all scorers with 19 points, as she connected on 8-of-13 shots, including two 3-point baskets.  Sophomore Alyssa Brockhaus (Sioux City, Iowa/Lawton-Bronson) and junior Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) joined Anciaux in double figures with 10 points apiece.  Lincoln added five rebounds and three steals, while also hitting two 3-point baskets.

Freshman Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) had eight points and five rebounds, while junior Kaitlin Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) added a game-high six assists.  Sophomore Ashley Hood (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) added four assists, while freshman Lindsey Buckles (Davenport, Iowa/West) had a game-high eight rebounds.

As a team, the Kohawks shot 47 percent from the field on 31-of-66 shooting, while holding the Vikings to 24 percent shooting on 11-of-46 from the field.  Augustana hit just one 3-point basket, while the Kohawks hit seven from downtown. 

Coe dominated the specialty categories, including a 29-9 advantage in points off turnovers and 48-18 in bench scoring.  Coe scored 38 points in the paint, while the Vikigns had just 16.  Holding a 47-35 rebounding advantage, Coe also had a 23-11 advantage in second-chance points.

Coe will return to action on Monday, when they travel to Carthage for a 6 p.m. contest.
