CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Kohawk women's basketball team opened 2010 like they closed 2009, with a win by more than 15 points. Freshman
Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) led three Kohawks in double figures with 16 points.
The biggest run of the game came late in the first half, as Coe pulled away early. With a one-point lead, Coe went on a 15-0 run at the 9:30 mark of the first half to take a 31-15 lead. With six points from Waskow during the run, the Kohawk lead would never dip below 11 for the rest of the game.
Coe opened the second half with another run, this time it was a 9-2 outburst that increased its lead to 22 points. The 48-26 score of the largest margin by either team on the day.
Waskow scored six of her points from the free throw line, where she was perfect on the day. She also added seven rebounds, as Coe won the battle of the boards 52-27. Junior
Devvin Rolston (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) and
Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) joined Waskow in double-figures with 11 and 10 points respectively. Lincoln also added eight rebounds, while Rolston had seven.

Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) each had a game-high three assists. Anciaux and sophomore
Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) each had nine points. Ware's points came on 3-of-8 3-point shooting, while she also had a game-high three steals.
Coe dominated the game in the paint, outscoring the Pioneers 22-12, while they also had a 19-2 advantage in second-chance points. The Kohawk bench outscored the Pioneers 22-9.
Coe returns to action on Monday when they travel to Luther. The game is a make-up game from earlier this season. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Decorah.
