CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Three Kohawk wrestlers are ranked first in the nation according to the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Brute-Adidas rankings.  As a team, the Kohawks remained in third, the highest Iowa Conference school.
At 125 pounds, junior Clayton Rush (Aledo, Ill./Aledo) is ranked first, after spending most of the season at second or third.  Rush is 16-2 on the year, with 11 wins earning bonus points.

Sophomore Dale Handley (Toddville, Iowa/Alburnett) remained ninth at 157 pounds.  Handley is 9-4 on the year.

At 165 pounds, sophomore Nick LeClere (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) remained at first.  LeClere holds a 16-1 record, with his only loss coming to Ryan Morningstar from the University of Iowa.  LeClere has earned bonus points in 12 of his wins, including seven by major decision.

The Kohawks remain strong at the three heavyweights, led by senior Tyler Burkle (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) at 184 pounds.  Burkle remained in the top spot with his 19-2 record.  Burkle has seven wins by fall and seven wins by technical fall this year.

At 197 pounds, senior Rob Kramer (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) stayed at sixth with his team-high 19 wins.  Kramer has won 18 of his matches by either fall, technical fall or major decision.

Senior Mitch Sander (Clarance, Iowa/North Cedar) dropped from sixth to seventh this week.  The heavyweight is 16-1 on the year, with his only loss coming during the Iowa dual.

The top-15 schools remained the same in the team rankings, with Wisconsin-La Crosse holding the top spot and Augsburg second.  Coe was third in the rankings, the highest of the five Iowa Conference schools ranked in the top 26.

Coe returns to action this weekend at the NWCA National Duals.  The Kohawks are seeded third in the tournament.  They will face 21st-ranked Heidelberg at 11 a.m. at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.  Coe will then face either ninth-ranked Concordia-Moorhead or 16th-ranked Cornell at 3 p.m. Saturday.
