INDIANOLA, Iowa - Coe (10-6, 5-2 IIAC) trailed by 12 at halftime, but it was Simpson's (12-3, 5-1 IIAC) 7-0 run in the first :48 of the second half that doomed the Kohawks Saturday.  Coe fell to 0-19 against Simpson on the road.
Simpson opened the game on a 9-2 run, but the Kohawks slowly climbed back in the game during the first half.  After Coe cut the lead to three, Simpson increased it to 12 at halftime.

Following the 7-0 run to start the half for Simpson, the Kohawks began to chip into the Storm lead.  Using a 6-2 run, Coe got the Storm lead into single digits with 7:21 to play.  The Kohawks would use another run, this one being 7-0, to cut Simpson's lead to four with 3:00 to play, but wouldn't be able to get any closer.

Sophomore Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) led the Kohawks with 14 points and three assists.  Sophomore Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) joined Waskow in double figures with 13 points.  Sophomore Ashley Hood (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) added seven points and a game-high four assists, while junior Kaitlin Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) had seven points and three assists.

Sophomore Sarah Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton), junior Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) and freshman Lindsey Buckles (Davenport, Iowa/West) each had four rebounds to lead Coe.  Buckles and junior Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) each added two blocked shots.

Unlike Wednesdays game against Wartburg, the Kohawks struggled from 3-point range.  Coe shot just 24 percent (5-for-21) following the 73 percent outing in the previous game.  The Kohawks committed 24 turnovers, with Simpson holding a 26-11 advantage in points off turnovers.

Coe will return to action on Monday night as they host Loras.  Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Eby Fieldhouse.
