GRINNELL, Iowa - Both the Coe men and women finished sixth Saturday at the Grinnell Invitational. Coe earned its only win of the meet on the women's side, as junior
Kelsie Rehn (Oceanside, Calif./Vista) won the 1650-yard Freestyle in 18:43.38.
Rehn entered the event with a seeded time of 19:11.18, as she cut nearly :30 off her time. Coe also had a good showing in three-meter diving, as freshmen
Rebecca Herman (Iowa City, Iowa/West) and
Elizabeth Curley (Omaha, Neb./Millard West) placed second and third. Herman scored a 354.15, while Curley tallied a 323.50.
Coe also had two women's relays turn in top-seven times. The 200-yard medley relay was sixth in 2:07.96, while the 400-yard freestyle relay was seventh in 4:04.66.
On the men's side, junior
Peter Curran (Afton, Minn./St. Thomas Academy) placed in the top-four in the 100-yard butterfly and the 200-yard backstroke. Curran swam a :55.15 for a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, while he was fourth in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:11.08. Junior
Ben Potts (Pleasant Hill, Iowa/SE Polk) was fifth in the 1650-yard freestyle in a time of 18:19.77.
The Kohawks 400-yard freestyle relay team was seventh in 3:36.38.
Coe will return to action on Friday, as they travel to Augustana for a dual. The meet is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in Rock Island, Ill.
