CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe (11-6, 6-2 IIAC) women's basketball team bounced back nicely Monday night from its loss Saturday to Simpson. Sophomore
Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) scored a career-high 22 points as Coe cruised by Loras (8-8, 3-4 IIAC) 86-65.
Coe held Loras scoreless in the first 3:50 of the game, as they jumped out to a 9-0 lead. With 7:52 to play in the first half, Coe went on an 8-1 run to take a 20-point lead, its largest of the half. Loras wouldn't go away, as 13-2 run to cut Coe's lead to nine at the break.
Loras went on a 16-7 run to cut Coe's lead to two points with 11:41 to play, but it would be all Kohawks from that point on. The Kohawks responded with a 12-1 run to go up 13, but still weren't done. With 5:23 to play, Coe went on a 10-2 run, with Waskow scoring the first nine points of the run.
Waskow led the Kohawks with a career-high 22 points. Waskow was 10-of-12 from the field with seven rebounds in her third 20-point performance of the season. Junior
Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) added 17 points on 3-of-6 shooting from 3-point range. Three other Kohawks scored in double figures, as junior
Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) added 13 points and three assists off the bench.

Alyssa Brockhaus (Sioux City, Iowa/Lawton-Bronson) had seven rebounds off the bench.
As a team, the Kohawks shot 59 percent from the field, while holding Loras to just 36 percent shooting. Coe tallied 54 points in the paint, while holding Loras to just 22. Coe also dominated in fast break (14-2) and bench points (22-10).
Coe begins the second half of the Iowa Conference season in second place. They travel to Dubuque on Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest. Coe beat Dubuque 68-54 earlier this season.
