MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Coe turned in four first-place finishes Saturday at the Cornell Quad, as both the men's and women's teams placed third at the meet.  The four first-place finishes came on the women's side.
Junior Alisa Denny (Runnells, Iowa/PCM) and freshman Stefany Wright (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius) placed fourth and fifth to start the meet in the 55-meter dash.  Denny ran in 7.68, while Wright finished in 7.71.  The same two runners were third and fourth in the 200-meter dash, with Denny edging Wright 27.40 to 27.64.

Coe tallied two top-four finishes in the 400-meter dash, as freshman Sara Heizer (Milliken, Colo./Roosevelt) was second in 61.21, while Liz Matthias (Readlyn, Iowa.Wapsie Valley) was fourth in 63.15.  The Kohawks earned their first top finish in the 800-meter run, as sophomore Keelie Finnel (Francis Creek, Wis./Mischicot) beat out junior Justine Screws (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) to give the Kohawks a 1-2 finish.  Finnel ran a 2:26.77, while Screws finished in 2:29.52.

Junior Jessica Robison (Iowa City, Iowa/City) was third in the 1,000-meter run, finishing in 3:20.34, while fellow junior Heather White (Dysart, Iowa/Union) was fourth in 3:23.08.  Senior Michelle Moorehead (Granger, Iowa/Woodward-Granger) finished a close second in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.84.  Denny was third in 8.85, while St. Ambrose's Rachel Krier won in 8.83.

The Kohawks won both the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relays, finishing the 4x200 in 1:48.85 and the 4x400 in 4:09.40.  Coe had a good showing in the field events, as senior Krystal Jackson (Arlington, Texas/Lamar) won the high jump in 5' 3 3/4", while freshman Cassandra Morigaki (Hilo, Hawaii/Waiakea) was third with a height of 4' 9 3/4".  Freshman Kristen Blodgett (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) was second in the pole vault in 8' 11 3/4", while she placed fifth in the long jump at 14' 3".  Jackson was third in the long jump at 15' 6 3/4".

On the men's side, freshman Dennis Gilbertson (Hayfield, Minn./Hayfield) was third in the 55-meter dash in 6.87.  He was also fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.03.  Freshman Leonard Froissard (Valenciennes, France/Valenciennes) finished fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:03.88, while junior Ryan Schroeder (Byron, Ill./Byron) was fifth in 2:06.32. 

Coe had a good showing in the long distance events, as sophomore Ryan McCleeary (Panora, Iowa/Panorama) was second in the 1,000-meter run in 2:41.78.  Junior Kyle Heineman (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie Valley) was second in the mile run in 4:25.00, while Schroeder was fourth in 4:32.94.  Senior Lane Moser (Wapello, Iowa/Wapello) was second in the 3,000-meter run in 8:59.92, with sophomore Jordan Lord (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit) placing fourth in 9:16.34. 

The Kohawk 4x400 team placed fifth in 3:49.85.  Sophomore Greg Everett (Jesup, Iowa/Jesup) was fourth in the high jump with a height of 5' 8".  Freshman Eric Ritter (Iowa City, Iowa/West) was third in the shot put with a distance of 44' 11 1/2".  In the weight throw, junior Dale Anderson (Galva, Ill./Galva) was fourth with a toss of 48' 3 1/2", with junior Andrew Meyer (Dubuque, Iowa/Senior) placing fifth with a throw of 48' 1 1/4".

Coe returns to action Feb. 6 as they travel to the Wisconsin-Stevens Point Invite.
