CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Coe couldn't capitalize on two Cornell turnovers in the final :19 of the game, as they fell 54-52 to Cornell Saturday afternoon at Eby Fieldhouse.  Coe held a 24-18 lead at the break, thanks to a basket by freshman Garrett Cross (Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove) at the buzzer.
Along with the basket at the buzzer, Cross scored Coe's final six-points of the half, as they held the Rams to just a two points in the last 2:14 of the half.  Cross finished with a career-high 17 points.  He connected on 2-of-3 3-point attempts and was perfect on five attempts from the free throw line.

With 8:40 to play, the Rams went on a 13-3 run over the next six minutes to take a 50-40 lead.  Coe didn't back down, as they fired back with a 9-2 run, as Cross hit a 3-pointer with :37 left to make it a 3-point game.  After a pair of free throws by the Rams, junior Alex Tatman (Humboldt, Iowa/Humboldt) hit a 3-point basket with :21 left, but Coe wouldn't be able to hit another basket down the stretch.  The trey was Tatman's only points of the game.

Junior Jordan Cunningham (Mankato, Minn./East) added 10 points off the bench.  Freshman Seth Light (Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle) had a team-high six rebounds, while Tatman had a game-high three assists.  Junior Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) had a game-high two blocked shots, while sophomore Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) had a game-high three steals.

As a team, the Kohawks struggled from the field in the second half, shooting just 27 percent (7-of-26), while the Rams hit 63 percent of their shots (12-of-19).  Coe did have an outstanding game from the free throw line, connecting on 15-of-16 attempts.

Coe returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Dubuque to face Loras.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
