CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Coe used an early 24-3 run Saturday, as they avenged an Iowa Conference season-opening loss to Cornell at Eby Fieldhouse. Coe defeated the Rams 83-54, after dropping a 67-58 overtime loss earlier this season.
The Rams took an early two-point lead, but it was the huge run for the Kohawks that put the game away early. Cornell scored the first basket of the second half, but that would be the only time in the final 20 minutes the Coe lead would drop below 20 points, as the lead increased to as much as 31 points with 8:30 to play. The Kohawks used an 8-2 run to put the lead at 31 points.
Sophomore
Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) tallied her fourth 20-point game of the season, as she led all scorers with 21 points. Junior
Devvin Rolston (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) joined Waskow in double figures with 14 points. Rolston also added three assists and two blocked shots.

Kaitlin Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) added eight points on 3-of-3 shooting from the field, while sophomore
Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) added nine points on 3-of-7 3-point shooting. Breitbach also added three assists and three steals.
Sophomore
Ashley Hood (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) tallied four assists and three steals, while sophomore
Alyssa Brockhaus (Sioux City, Iowa/Lawton-Bronson) had a game-high four blocked shots. Junior
Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) had a game-high eight rebounds.
As a team, the Kohawks shot 55 percent for the game, while holding the Rams to 39 percent shooting. Coe shot 22-of-27 from the free throw line, while the Rams were just 5-of-11.
Coe returns to action on Wednesday night, as they travel to Dubuque to face Loras. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
