MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The third-ranked Coe wrestling team closed the dual regular season with a dominating 33-10 win over eighth-ranked Cornell Friday night at the Small Multi-Sport Center. Coe trailed 10-8 going into the intermission, but won the remaining five matches, earning bonus points in all five.
Junior
Clayton Rush (Aledo, Ill./Aledo) put the Kohawks up 5-0 with an 18-3 technical fall over Cole Mason in 4:05. Rush, the number one wrestler in the nation at 125 pounds, improved to 25-2 on the year. At 133 pounds, freshman
Drew Hinschberger (Belle Plaine, Iowa/Belle Plaine) was defeated by major decision 11-3 by seventh-ranked Nick Northern.
Freshman
Chris LeClere (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) put the Kohawks back in the lead with a 10-5 win over eighth-ranked Kevin Donahue. The Rams won their final two matches of the night at 149 and 157 pounds. Jacob Schwebke beat

Dale Handley (Toddville, Iowa/Alburnett) 6-1 at 157 pounds.
Following the break, second-ranked
Nick LeClere (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) won by major decision 18-4 over Alex Riniker at 165 pounds. Junior
Seth Rehn (Oceanside, Calif./Vista) earned the Kohawks first fall of the night, as he pinned Joe Hambleton in 2:58. Senior
Tyler Burkle (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) sealed the Kohawk win with a 17-2 technical fall of Andrew Roberts.

Rob Kramer (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) pinned Andrew Anderson in 4:38 at 197 pounds before senior
Mitch Sander (Clarance, Iowa/North Cedar) beat Wyatt Bauman 13-3 at heavyweight.
Coe improved to 16-3 overall and 7-1 in the Iowa Conference, while Cornell dropped to 14-11 and 5-3 in the IIAC. Coe tallied 23 takedowns on the night, while the Rams had just eight. The Kohawks scored 32 points off nearfalls, while Cornell had just three.
The Kohawks return to action Feb. 16 as they travel to Storm Lake for the Iowa Conference Championships.
