WAVERLY, Iowa - Coe used an early 14-0 run to cruise to a 75-60 win over Wartburg Wednesday night at Levick Arena. Junior
Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) scored a career-high 24 points, as Head Coach
Randi Peterson earned her 57th win at Coe, moving her to second-place on the school's all-time wins list.
The Knights scored the first points of the game, but the Kohawks answered with a 14-0 run. During the run, Lincoln and sophomore
Kayla Waskow (Dunkerton, Iowa/Dunkerton) had six-points apiece. Wartburg followed the Coe run with a 10-2 run of their own, cutting Coe's lead to four, but wouldn't be able to get any closer the rest of the way.
With 8:40 to play in the first half, Lincoln scored 10-straight points for the Kohawks, giving her 16 points at the time, as Coe took a 26-14 lead. Back-to-back baskets by Abi Weidemann cut Coe's lead back to eight, but that would be the final time the lead dipped into single digits on the night.
The Kohawks held a 39-24 lead at the break. The two teams exchanged baskets during the first few minutes of the second half before the Kohawks went on a 14-4 run to take their largest lead of the game at 27 points with 5:56 to play. Wartburg outscored Coe 12-2 in the final 2:45, but Coe was still able to hold on for the 15-point win.
Lincoln's career-high 24 points was just her second 20-plus point performance of her career, the other coming earlier this season. She also finished with six rebounds and three blocked shots. The three blocked shots gave Lincoln 87 for her career, tying for third all-time. Lincoln hit four 3-point baskets and was perfect on eight attempts from the free throw line.
Waskow added 17 points and seven rebounds, as she moved into 11th place on the single-season scoring chart with 319 points. Junior
Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) joined Waskow and Lincoln in double figures with 12 points off the bench. She also added three assists.

Devvin Rolston (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton) had seven rebounds and three assists, while sophomore
Leslie Ware (Des Moines, Iowa/Johnston) added six rebounds. Sophomore
Ashley Hood (Manchester, Iowa/West Delaware) had five assists, while junior
Kaitlin Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washington) added three. Sophomore
Kelsey Jipp (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant
Valley) had two steals.
As a team, the Kohawks shot 48 percent from the field, while connecting on 89 percent of their shots from the charity stripe. The Knights were held to just 35 percent shooting.
The Kohawks host 24th-ranked Simpson on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Eby Fieldhouse.
