CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Despite a 27-6 run by Simpson, Coe earned a 76-62 win over the Storm Saturday afternoon at Eby Fieldhouse.  Six Kohawks scored over eight points in the win, as Coe avenged an early season loss to Simpson.
With 16:12 to play in the first half, Coe went on a 14-2 run over the next four minutes to open a 13 point lead.  The Kohawks would extend the lead to 16 points two minutes later, which would end up being the largest lead of the game for either team.

The Storm scored the final 10 points of the first half and the first five of the second half to take their first lead of the game with 16:17 to play.  Coe tied the game with 15:25 to play, which led to an 8-2 run by the Storm.  Coe quickly bounced back with a 17-4 run to take a lead they would never relinquish.  The Kohawks' final eight points in the last minute came from the free throw line.

Junior Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) scored a game-high 22 points off the bench.  Borngraeber hit 12-of-13 free throw attempts.  Senior Cass Behrens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) joined Borngraeber in double figures with 10 points and seven rebounds. 

Sophomore Ryan Baade (Havelock, Iowa/Pocahontas) and freshman Garrett Cross (Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove) each had nine points.  Sophomore Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) and freshman David Mataloni (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) added eight points each. 

Freshman Seth Light (Carlisle, Iowa/Carlisle) tacked on nine rebounds and three assists.  Mataloni added five assists and four steals.

As a team, the Kohawks shot 86 percent from the free throw line in the second half, as they outscored the Storm 39-28.  Both teams attempted 17 3-point baskets.  Simpson hit just three, while Coe tallied seven.

Coe returns to action on Wednesday night, as they host Central in the final game of the season at Eby Fieldhouse.  Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
