CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Coe used a late 15-4 run to take a two-point lead over Iowa Conference Champion Central, but the Dutch responded with an 11-0 run to win their seventh-straight game with a 74-67 win over the Kohawks.  Three Kohawks scored in double figures in the loss.
Central took a 12-2 lead in the first 4:07 of the game, but Coe responded with a 15-4 run to take a one-point lead with 8:01 to play in the first half.  A 3-point basket by junior Kevin Gaster (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) at the buzzer ended the first half with the Dutch leading 35-29.

Gaster hit a layup :16 into the second half, but Central quickly responded with a 10-0 run to take a 14 point lead, its largest of the game.  With 10:17 to play, Coe went on the 15-4 run to take a two-point lead with 6:33 to play.  The Dutch ran the lead back to nine points with :55 to play.  Coe lowered it to three points with :13 to play, but couldn't get any closer.

Junior Dan Borngraeber (Brookfield, Wis./East) led the Kohawks with 14 points off the bench.  Gaster and sophomore Jake Raney (Owatonna, Minn./Owatonna) joined Borngraeber in double figures with 13 and 11 points respectively.  Gaster and freshman David Mataloni (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) each had a team-high eight rebounds. 

Freshman Garrett Cross (Spring Grove, Minn./Spring Grove) added eight points, while junior Dan Onorato (Naperville, Ill./Nequa Valley) had a team-high four assists.  Mataloni and senior Cass Behrens (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) had three assists each.

As a team, the Coe bench outscored Central's 42-11.  The Kohawks hurt themselves at the free throw line, where they shot just 9-of-18.  Central shot 17-of-19 from the charity stripe.

The Kohawks close the season on Saturday as they travel to Buena Vista.  Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Storm Lake.
