DECORAH, Iowa- Luther scored the game's first four points, but it was the 12-3 run by the Kohawks after those two baskets that opened the game up for the Kohawks. With Coe leading by five, Luther cut the lead to one, but Coe went on an 11-0 run that put the Kohawk lead into double digits until the game's final minute, as Coe held on for a 79-70 win over the Norse.
The Kohawks scored the first six points of the second half and later went on a 10-2 run midway through the second half, as they increased their lead to 24, the largest of the game. Luther scored 15 of the games final 19 points in the last 3:36, holding the Kohawks to just one field goal during that span.
Sophomore Brittany Norris (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) led all scorers with 17 points. Sophomore Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) and senior Calie Sobaski (Iowa City, Iowa/City) added 15 and 11 points respectively for the Kohawks. Norris and Anciaux were a combined 14-for-18 from the field and 3-for-3 from 3-point range. Sobaski and Anciaux each had a team-high three steals apiece.
Sophomore Kaitlin Breitbach (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Washingon) had a game-high seven rebounds for Coe. Breitbach and sophomore Kayla Lincoln (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) each had a game-high five assists.
The Kohawks will return to action next Saturday as they host Wartburg in Iowa Conference play. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Eby Fieldhouse.
