STORM LAKE, Iowa - Four Kohawks were crowned Iowa Conference Champions on the final day of the 2010 Iowa Conference Championships. Three other Kohawks earned All-Iowa Conference honors, as both teams finished fifth in the standings.
Sophomore
Keelie Finnel (Francis Creek, Wis./Mischicot) missed out on all-conference honors in the 200-meter dash with her fourth place finish in 26.06. Finnel bounced back in the 400-meter dash with a first place finish in 56.95. Her time is the third fastest in the nation and a provisional time for the NCAA Championships. She missed the meet record by .32 seconds.
Junior
Alisa Denny (Runnells, Iowa/PCM) was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.72. The women's 4x800-meter relay team earned All-Iowa Conference honors, as they were third in 9:48.54.
Already provisionally qualified for the national meet, senior
Krystal Jackson (Arlington, Texas/Lamar) won the high jump with another provisional height of 1.66 meters. Freshman
Cassandra Morigaki (Hilo, Hawaii/Waiakea) placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.56 meters.
Junior
Kyle Heineman (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie
Valley) won the one mile run in 4:21.42. He won by over six seconds. Following a 1-2 finish in last night's 5,000 meter finish, junior
Ryan Schroeder (Byron, Ill./Byron) and senior
Lane Moser (Wapello, Iowa/Wapello) finished first and third in the 3,000-meter run. Schroeder finished in 8:43.77, while Moser ran a 8:46.20.
In the 800-meter run, senior
Leonard Froissard (Valenciennes, France/Valenciennes) was third in a time of 1:58.54. Junior
Andrew Meyer (Dubuque, Iowa/Senior) was fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 15.02 meters.
Both Coe teams finished in fifth place. The women tallied 67.5 points, while the men had 63. Coe finished just three points behind Luther on the men's side.
