CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Coe crowned five All-Americans Friday night at the NCAA Wrestling Championships, as they sit in fourth place as a team after the first day of competition. Junior Clayton Rush (Aledo, Ill./Aledo) and sophomore Nick LeClere (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) are still alive in the championship bracket, while three others are in the consolation.

Rush will be making his third-straight appearance in the semifinals Saturday morning. Rush defeated Dan Bloom of Wesleyan by major decision 19-6 to earn his spot. Rush will face Elmhurst's Jake Oster. Oster is the defending National Champion at 125 pounds. Rush pinned Oster in 3:20 earlier this year, while Oster pinned Rush in 1:33 last season.

LeClere earned his second-straight major decision win with a 20-8 victory over sixth-seeded Matt Baarson of St. John's. The third-seeded LeClere will face the seven seed, Orlando Ponce of Augsburg. LeClere beat Ponce 8-2 at the NWCA National Duals earlier this year. LeClere is the highest remaining seed in the tournament.

After going 0-2 at last year's NCAA Championships, junior Seth Rehn (Oceanside, Calif./Vista) bounced back this season to earn All-American honors. In the quarterfinals, Rehn lost a 10-1 major decision to second-seeded Zach Molitor of Augsburg. In the consolation round, Rehn held on for a 2-0 win over Sam Engelland of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Rehn will face Chris Wade of Oneonta State in Saturday's consolation quarterfinals.

Top-seeded Tyler Burkle (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn) was pinned in 4:11 by eighth-seeded Brennan Ward of Johnson and Wales. Burkle fought back to earn his third-straight All-American honors with a 9-3 win over seventh-seeded Corbin Semple of Waynesburg. Burkle will face Mike Denver of The College of New Jersey in Saturday's consolation quarterfinals.

In one of the longest matches of the tournament, seventh-seeded Mitch Sander (Clarence, Iowa/North Cedar) lost a 10-9 decision to second-seeded Kyle Bilquist of Delaware Valley in the second sudden victory tiebreaker. It was the third two point or less loss to Bilquist of Sander's career. Sander fought back to earn a 7-5 win over top-seeded Mark Corsello of Elmhurst to earn his second-straight All-American honors. Sander improved to 3-0 all-time against Corsello, whom entered the tournament with a perfect 32-0 record.

In the second round consolation matches, Coe lost freshmen Drew Hinschberger (Belle Plaine, Iowa/Belle Plaine) and Chris LeClere (Coggon, Iowa/North-Linn). Hinschberger dropped a 6-2 decision to Corey Brown of Thiel, while LeClere lost a 2-1 match to fifth-seeded Ben Anderson on riding time.

Senior Mark Carey (Raytown, Mo./South) ended his career by splitting his two matches in the night session. Carey was a 7-3 winner over Connor McCormick of Ursinus before falling 6-2 to Justin Berns of Concordia.

Sophomore Dale Handley (Toddville, Iowa/Alburnett) also split his two matches in the night session. Handley earned an 8-0 major decision over eighth-seeded Frank Cammisa of Bridgewater State before dropping a 4-2 loss to third-seeded Jesse Milks of Wisconsin-Platteville.
