ORLANDO, Fla. - Coe used a 3-0 lead after doubles play en route to an 8-1 win over the University of Rochester Tuesday afternoon. The Kohawks won five of their six singles matches in straight-sets.
Juniors
Elliot Rausa (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) and
Scott Stegemann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) were 8-4 winners at number one doubles over Brian Bowman and Austin Armstrong. Rausa was also a 6-3, 6-4 victor over Bowman at number one singles. Stegemann Jeff Zink 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 at number four singles.
Freshman
Curtis Newman (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) teamed with sophomore
Victor Khristenko (Orel, Russia) for an 8-3 win over Brian Schmeer and Joel Allen at number two doubles. Newman also beat Allen 6-1, 6-3 at number six singles.
Senior
Greg Janssen (Oshkosh, Wis./West) paired with freshman
Kyle Tucker (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) to beat Dan Barbash and Matt Volkov 8-2 at number three singles. Janssen beat Schmeer 6-0, 6-1 at number two singles.
At number five singles, sophomore
Jonathan Roger (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) beat Alex Magill 6-4, 6-2.
The Kohawks conclude their spring trip on Thursday against Wheaton.
