DUBUQUE, Iowa - After dropping the nine-inning conference opener on Friday, Coe bounced back for a doubleheader sweep of defending Iowa Conference Champion Loras on Saturday.  The Kohawks took the first game 9-0, before winning the nightcap 4-1.
Coe scored five early runs while cruising to the 9-0 win in the opener.  With one out, sophomore Adam Nisenson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) reached on an error by the first basemen.  A walk by senior Pat Richmond (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown)  put two runners on for fellow senior Ryan Schisler (Morrison, Ill./Morrison).  Schisler doubled to left center to drive in Nisenson.  A sacrifice fly by junior Ryan Velvick (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) plated Richmond.  Junior Kevin Schuver (Marion, Iiowa/Marion) drove in the final run of the inning on a double down the right field line.

The Kohawks tacked on two more runs in the second inning.  Senior Nick Robertson (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) walked to start the inning.  Robertson moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Scott DeAngelis (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton).  Freshman Nick Stein (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) singled and moved to third on a throwing error, allowing Robertson to score.  With two outs, Richmond doubled to left field, plating Stein.

Coe went scoreless in the fourth inning, but would score one run in each of the last four innings.  Robertson led off the fourth with a single to center field.  Following a sacrifice bunt by DeAngelis, Robertson scored as Nisenson reached on an error by the second basemen.

In the fifth inning, Robertson drove a two-out pitch down the left field line, plating sophomore Spencer Sobba (Kansas City, Mo./St. Pius X) and Schisler.  Sobba and Schisler both reached base on errors.

With one out in the sixth, Nisenson doubled to left center.  He moved to third on a ground out by Richmond, while scoring on a double to right center by Schisler.  Coe's final run of the game came in the top of the seventh.  Schuver led off the inning with a home run to left field.

Schuver and Schisler had two hits and two RBIs in the opener, while Robertson also had two hits.  Nisenson, Schisler and Robertson each scored two runs.  Senior Alec Lewis (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) improved to 4-0 on the hill with a complete game.  He gave up just three hits while striking out five in the win.

After trailing 1-0 in the first inning, Coe rattled off three runs in the second inning of the nightcap for the win.  With two outs, freshman Kaileb Armbruster (DeSoto, Mo./DeSoto) walked.  A single through the right side by DeAngelis brought Stein to the plate.  Stein singled to right field, plating Armbruster and moving DeAngelis to third.  Nisenson doubled down the left field line, plating DeAngelis and moving Stein to third.  Stein scored as Richmond reached on a throwing error by the shortstop.

The Kohawks tacked on another run in the fourth inning.  Velvick led the inning off with a double to right center.  After moving to third on a wild pitch, Velvick scored on a sacrifice fly by Schuver.

Nisenson and Schisler had two hits to lead the Kohawks in the nightcap.  Four other Kohawks had a hit apiece.  Junior Kevin Baranowski (Hawthorn Woods, Ill./Lake Zurich) improved to 2-1 with a win in six innings of work.  He struck out three, while giving up just three hits.  Sophomore Sean Raisch (Urbandale, Iowa/Urbandale) earned the first save of the season for the Kohawks, retiring the side in the seventh inning.

Coe returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to face NCAA Division I Western Illinois.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
