CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Coe men's tennis team earned its third-straight win Saturday, as they defeated Wisconsin-Oshkosh 6-3 at the Clark Racquet Center. Three Kohawks earned wins in both singles and doubles play.
Coe jumped to a 2-1 lead after doubles play, earning wins at the top two spots. At number one doubles, juniors
Elliot Rausa (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) and
Scott Stegemann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) beat James Lewison and Nate Kilsdonk 9-7. Senior
Greg Janssen (Oshkosh, Wis./West) and freshman
Curtis Newman (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) defeated Robbie Price and Dustin Blackburn 8-5 at number two doubles.
Janssen beat Kilsdonk 6-0, 6-0 at number two singles. Stegemann beat Blackburn 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at number three singles to earn the Kohawks fourth win. Sophomore
Jonathan Roger (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) and Newman sealed the Kohawks win with victories at number four and five singles. Roger beat Price 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, while Newman defeated Todd Fuller 7-6, 6-3.
Coe will return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Cornell. The match will start at 4 p.m. in Mount Vernon.
