CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Senior Alec Lewis (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) improved to 5-0 on the year Saturday, as the Kohawks split a pair of games with Simpson.  Lewis earned the win in the opener, as Coe took a 4-3 decision from the Storm in the 2010 home opener.
Simpson jumped on top first, as they scored three runs on four hits, including one Kohawk error, in the top of the first inning.  The Kohawks would answer back in the bottom of the second, scoring three runs to tie the game.  Senior Ryan Schisler (Morrison, Ill./Morrison) singled to center to start the inning.  With one out, junior Kevin Schuver (Marion, Iowa/Marion) singled to left center, moving Schisler to second.

WIth two outs, Schisler and Schuver moved to second and third on passed ball.  With a 1-2 count and two outs, freshman Kaileb Armbruster (DeSoto, Mo./DeSoto) hit a home run to left field, knotting the game at three runs apiece.

Coe tacked on the deciding run in the sixth inning.  Senior Nick Robertson (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) walked to start the inning.  A sacrifice bunt by senior Pat Richmond (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) moved Robertson to second.  A single by Schisler drove in Robertson for the final run of the game.

Schisler led the Kohawks with three hits, while five other Kohawks had a hit apiece.  Lewis improved to 5-0 on the hill.  He struck out seven, while giving up two earned runs and eight hits in seven innings of work.

The Kohawks gave up three runs in the third inning of the nightcap and weren't able to stage a rally for the win.  Only one of the three runs was earned, as the Kohawks committed three errors in the game.  Coe scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth, with one coming on a lead-off home run by junior Ryan Velvick (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie).  Freshman Nick Stein (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) and Richmond led the Kohawks with two hits apiece.

Coe will return to action on Monday, as they conclude a three-game series with the Storm.  The two teams will play a nine-inning contest at 3:00 p.m. at Daniels Park.
