MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The Coe men's tennis team won its fourth-straight match Friday, as they beat Iowa Conference rival Cornell 8-1.  With the win, the Kohawks improved to 5-0 in league play and 12-2 overall.  
Juniors Elliot Rausa (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus) and Scott Stegemann (Davenport, Iowa/Central) improved to 14-3 on the year with an 8-3 win over Bronson Brassel and Garrett Russikoff at number one doubles. 

Senior Greg Janssen (Oshkosh, Wis./West) and freshman Curtis Newman (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) won their seventh-straight match at number two doubles, as they took an 8-1 decision from Kristofer Andresen and John Mineck.

Coe wrapped up the doubles sweep at number three, as sophomore Jonathan Roger (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) and freshman Kyle Tucker (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) beat Neal Klauer and Brandon Wolff 8-5. 

Janssen opened singles play with his second win of the season at the top spot.  In his seventh win in his last 10 outings, Janssen beat Brassel 6-1, 6-1.  At number two singles, Rausa beat Garrett Russikoff 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 10-7.

Roger improved to 14-3 on the year with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Andresen at number four singles.  Newman won his team-best 15th singles match 6-2, 6-3 over Mineck.  Tucker closed out the meet with his ninth win in the last 10 tries, as he beat Klauer 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.

Coe returns to action on Saturday, as they travel to Decorah to face Luther.
