MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - Two Kohawks provisionally qualified in three events for the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Sophomore Keelie Finnell (Francis Creek, Wis./Mishicot) qualified in the 400-meter dash, while junior Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) qualified in the shot put and discus throws.
Finnells's first place time of 57.04 was almost three seconds faster than all other runners in the 400-meter dash. Her time also was the second fastest time recorded in the nation.

Anciaux's discus throw of 141' 4" took first place in the meet and ranks fifth nationally. Her shot put throw of 44' 4" took fourth place in the meet and seventh nationally. The three competitors ahead of Anciaux in the shot put were all from the University of Northern Iowa.

In the 200-meter dash, Finnel and freshman Stefani Wright (Chicago, Ill./St. Ignatius) finished first and second with times of 25.24 and 26.22.  Coe's 4x100 team finished second in 49.63, while the 4x400 team won in 4:06.50.  Freshman Sara Heizer (Miliken, Colo./Roosevelt) finished second in the 400-meter dash and won the 400-meter hurdles in 65.65.

Freshman pole vaulter Kristen Blodgett (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) finished first with a height of 9' 6".




As a team, the Kohawks finished second at the meet.
