PELLA, Iowa - Coe split a pair of Iowa Conference baseball games with Central Tuesday afternoon, as they won their third three-game Iowa Conference series of the year.  The Kohawks took the first game 3-2, while dropping the nightcap 4-3 in extra innings.
The Dutch pushed the first runs of the game across in the second inning.  With two outs, Jarred Lackey walked, allowing Ryan Allison to hit a two-run homer to right field.  Coe answered with a run in the second inning.  With one out, sophomore Adam Nisenson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) singled to center field.  Sophomore John Delaplane (Downers Grove, Ill./North) was hit by a pitch, moving Nisenson to second base.

Both runners moved up a base on a wild pitch before freshman Kaileb Armbruster (DeSoto, Mo./DeSoto) was hit by a pitch.  With two outs, freshman Nick Stein (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) walked to plate Nisenson.  The inning ended with a bases loaded ground out.

Coe scored the final two runs of the game in the sixth inning.  Junior Kevin Schuver (Marion, Iowa/Marion) walked to lead off the inning.  Nisenson reached on a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt, as Schuver moved to second on a throwing error by the third baseman.  A single to right field by Delaplane moved everyone up a base.  Armbruster then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate Shuver, tying the game at two.

A pinch-hit single by senior Nick Robertson (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) drove in Nisenson for the winning run.  A pop fly foul out ended the inning with runners on second and third for Coe.

Senior Alec Lewis (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) improved to 6-0 on the year with the complete game.  He gave up three hits, while striking out seven.  Senior Ryan Schisler (Morrison, Ill./Morrison) earned a hit in the sixth-straight game, while Nisenson had a game-high two hits.

In the nightcap, the Kohawks gave up one run in the bottom of the seventh inning, sending the game to extras.  In the extra frame, Central scored on a two-out single and error.

The Kohawks return to action on Friday when they host Dubuque in a three-game weekend series.
