LAWRENCE, Kansas - Sophomore Keelie Finnel (Francis Creek, Wis./Mishicot) finished fourth in the 400-meter dash at the Kansas Relays this weekend, coming away with the fastest 400-meter dash time in the nation for NCAA Division III.
Finnel won the second heat with a time of 56.69, which topped the previous best time in America by .01.  Finnel beat two runners from the University of Nebraska in her heat, while her time was the fourth fastest of the 33 entered in the event.  In all, Finnel ran faster than nine NCAA Division I athletes in the preliminaries.

In the finals, Finnel upped her preliminary time, as she ran a 56.11, finishing in fourth place.  Two-time Olympian and former University of Florida runner Tiandra Ponteen won the event in 53.65, while runners from Iowa State University and the University of Kansas finished ahead of Finnel.

In the 4x100-meter dash, the Coe women placed fifth in their heat in a time of 49.59.  Their time was the 11th fastest in the event.  Coe's 1,600-meter Sprint Medley finished second in their heat with a time of 4:11.56, while it was the fourth fastest time overall, beating teams from Wartburg and St. Cloud State.

On the men's side, junior Kyle Heineman (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie Valley) finished 13th in his heat during the 1,500-meter run.  His time of 4:07.24 was the 23rd fastest in the 48 member field.  In the 5,000-meter run, junior Ryan Schroeder (Byron, Ill./Byron) was 14th of 30 in a time of 15:05.00.

The Coe women will have four relay teams entered in this weekend's Drake Relays.
