DUBUQUE, Iowa - Coe crowned 12 champions at the University of Dubuque Spartan Open on Saturday. Along with the 12 first place finishes, 11 other Kohawks placed in the top three. There were no team standings at the meet.
Sophomore
Keelie Finnel (Francis Creek, Wis./Mishicot) was the first winner for the Kohawks, as she ran a 25.98 in the 200-meter dash. Finnel also won the 400-meter dash in 57.29, as she was over four seconds faster than the second place finisher.
Senior
Hillary Allen (Fort Collins, Colo./Fort Collins) was the first distance runner to win, as she took first place honors in the 5,000 meter run. She won by over 14 seconds.
The Kohawks had their first 1-2 finish in the 100-meter hurdles. Senior
Michelle Moorehead (Granger, Iowa/Woodward-Granger) was first in 15.26, while junior
Alisa Denny (Runnells, Iowa/PCM) was second in 15.39. Freshman
Sara Heizer (Milliken, Colo./Roosevelt) took first in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.55.
Freshman

Ignatius) was second in the 100-meter dash with a time
of 12.50. In the 3,000-meter Steeplechase, junior
Michelle Klobassa
(Riceville, Iowa/Riceville) was second in 13:15.81. Coe won its only relay entry, taking first in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:09.61.
The Kohawks had a pair of winners in the field events, along with numerous top three finishes. Freshman
Cassandra Morigaki (Hilo, Hawaii/Waiakea) won the high jump with a height of 5' 1". Junior
Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) won the shot put with a throw of 42' 6 1/4", while she was second in the discus with a throw of 135'. Freshman
Chelsea Arredondo (Des Moines, Iowa/I-35) was third in the hammer throw in 126' 9", while freshman
Kristen Blodgett (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) was second in the pole vault with a height of 7' 11 1/2".
On the men's side,
Leonard Froissard (Valenciennes, France/Valenciennes) won the 800-meter run in 1:56.19. Junior
Ryan Schroeder (Byron, Ill./Byron) was second in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:04.59. The Kohawks finished 1-2 in the 5,000-meter run. Senior
Lane Moser (Wapello, Iowa/Wapello) won in 15:40.67, while junior
Kyle Heineman (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie
Valley) was second in 15:43.13.
In the field events, freshman Jared Kuehner (Center Point, Iowa/Center Point-Urbana) won with a height of 6' 6". Freshman
Eric Ritter (Iowa City, Iowa/West) was second in the shot put with a throw of 43' 1 1/2", while he was also second in hammer throw in 135' 7".
Senior
Andrew Meyer (Dubuque, Iowa/Senior) won the hammer throw with a toss of 151', while sophomore
Ty Hetland (Minneapolis, Minn./Southwest) was third in the javelin throw in 134' 8".
