INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to hand the Kohawks their first Iowa Conference Tournament loss in over two years.  Sophomore Ashlee Simon (Riverside, Iowa/Highland) broke Coe's single-season strikeouts record with 10 in the game, giving her 316 on the year.
Coe left runners on base in four innings, while the Storm didn't have anyone reach base until the fifth inning, when their first runner reached on an error.  Simpson's first hit came in the sixth inning, Coe had a strikeout-throwout double play to end the inning.

Senior Chelsea Zaugg (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Xavier) led the Kohawks with two hits.  Senior Abby Wedemeier (Maynard, Iowa/West Central) and junior Shannon Aguero (Muscatine, Iowa/Muscatine) also had a hit in the loss.

Simon struck out 10, while giving up just three hits.

Coe returns to action at noon on Friday in the consolation bracket.  The Kohawks will face Loras with the winner advancing to a 6 p.m. contest against the winner of the Central vs. Buena Vista game.
