CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Senior
Alec Lewis (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) improved to 10-0 Saturday, while breaking four school records in a doubleheader split with Luther. Coe finished the regular season fourth in the Iowa Conference following a 6-0 win over the Norse.
Junior
Kevin Schuver (Marion, Iowa/Marion) singled through the left side to start the second inning. Senior
Jacob Schwind (Burlington, Iowa/Notre Dame) moved Schuver to second on a sacrifice bunt. A ground ball by freshman
Kaileb Armbruster (DeSoto, Mo./DeSoto) moved Schuver to third. A two-out single to right center by sophomore
Scott DeAngelis (Clinton, Iowa/Clinton), on a 1-2 pitch, plated Schuver for the game's first run.
Coe tacked on three more runs in the third to break the game open. With one out, freshman
Nick Stein (Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon) singled to center field. With two outs, junior
Ryan Velvick (Swisher, Iowa/Prairie) singled to right field, moving Stein to second. Schuver then drilled his 15th double of the season down the left field line, plating both Velvick and Stein. A double by Schwind plated Schuver for the final run of the inning.
With one out in the fourth inning, sophomore
Adam Nisenson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Central) singled down the right field line. After Nisenson stole second, Stein hit his 11th home run of the season to center field, plating Nisenson in the process. Stein's home run tied him for second for single-season home runs in school history.
Lewis earned the win in seven innings on the hill. He struck out 10, while giving up just two hits. Lewis broke the single-season record for innings pitched with 85.2 and broke a 17-year old single-season strikeout record with 82. He also broke the career strikeouts record with 240, while earning his school record 23rd win. His win broke Steve Schnoebelen's 31-year old record for wins.

Steve Cook earned his 275th win in his career.
The Kohawks return to action on Thursday in the opening round of the Iowa Conference Tournament. Coe will face Simpson at 1 p.m. Thursday at Daniels Park, the Kohawks home field. The winner will advance to a 7 p.m. game against top-seeded Buena Vista. The second game, and all other IIAC Tournament games, will be plated at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids.
