BEREA, Ohio - Freshman Sara Heizer (Milliken, Colo./Roosevelt) broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles Thursday, as she advanced to the finals of the event at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  She earns All-American honors by advancing to the finals.
Heizer entered the championships with a time of 62.77, the eighth fastest time in the nation and previous school best.  Her time of 62.40 placed her third in her heat and sixth overall.  Heizer had the fastest time of the four Iowa Conference runners to participate in the event.  Jamie Simons of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology broke a 19-year old stadium record with a time of 60.52 to win Heizer's heat and take the top time overall.

With Heizer advancing to the finals, Coe has now had 23 All-Americans at the Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  The finals for the event will be at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.

Two other Kohawks will compete at the NCAA Championships Friday and Saturday.  Junior Sarah Anciaux (Iowa City, Iowa/City) will participate in the shot put and discus, while sophomore Keelie Finnel (Francis Creek, Wis./Mishicot) will run in the 400-meter dash.
