CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Coe improved by four strokes over its first round score, as they moved to fifth place at the halfway point of the 2010 Iowa Conference women's golf Championships. The Kohawks shot a 360 on Friday and a 356 on Saturday.
The Kohawks 716 team score after the first two rounds is the fifth best 36-hole team score in school history. Coe edged Buena Vista by one stroke to improve on their finish from Friday.
Freshman
Chelsea Crain (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) leads the Kohawks with a 177 after two rounds. Fellow freshman
Kayla Koschmeder (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie Valley) joined Crain in the top 20 with a 179, tying for 19th. Koschmeder shot a 93 on Friday, but answered with an 86 on Saturday.
Freshman
Amber Suhr (Readlyn, Iowa/Wapsie Valley) improved her score by two strokes from Friday, finishing the weekend with a 184.
Erin Rowan (Naperville, Ill./North) and
Kristi Boner (Monroe, Iowa/PCM) shot a 186 and 187 respectively, both ending the weekend in the top 30. Boner cut 11 strokes off her score from Friday, the second most improved score of anyone in the meet.
Action resumes again next weekend, as the meet travels to Waverly for the final two days.
