GRINNELL, Iowa - The Coe women's swimming and diving team placed fourth at the Pioneer Classic Saturday, while the men finished seventh. The women had moved to third place after the morning session.
In the first event of the day, the Coe women took fifth in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in a time of 2:03.11. Freshman
Ariana Uding (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young) took a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a season best time of 1:03.55.
Junior
Kelsie Rehn (Oceanside, Calif./Vista) earned the first of two first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle. She cut nearly two seconds off her previous season best for a time of 2:04.61. Uding added another high finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, tallying a time of 1:15.61.
Coe's second high relay finish came in the 800-yard freestyle, as they were third in 8:48.15. Their time was 23 seconds faster than their previous season-best. Rehn added her second win of the day in the 1,650-yard freestyle, winning the event by nearly 11 seconds in 19:11.11.
The Kohawks had two top-10 finishes in the 100-yard freestyle. Freshman
Andi Queisner (Fort Madison, Iowa/Fort Madison) and Rehn tied for eighth in :58.58. Uding added another good finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing eighth in 2:47.09.
Uding also finished seventh in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:35.62. The final relay for the Kohawks took a third-place finish, as the 400-yard freestyle relay swam a 3:57.33.
On the men's side, senior
Ben Potts (Pleasant Hill, Iowa/SE Polk) was ninth in the 200-yard freestyle, taking almost five seconds off his season best for a time of 1:57.40. Potts added another top-10 finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Potts cut 1:24 off his season best to finish in 18:31.13.
The women finished with 550.5 points for fourth, while the men were seventh with 276 points.
